Two arrested for duping elderly woman of gas cylinder

Kanpur: Two youths duped an elderly woman by pretending to weigh her gas cylinder and fled on a bike with it in the Jawahar Nagar area of city on Friday. Both youths were captured in the CCTV installed at the house opposite.

Police arrested both of them.Ashish Kumar, a resident of Jawahar Nagar, told the police that on Wednesday afternoon he had gone to a neighbor’s house and his elderly mother Kusmadevi was alone at home. During this time, two youths, who came on a bike, sneaked inside the house and engaged the mother in conversation, saying they wanted to weigh the cylinder. The youths removed the cylinder installed in the kitchen and quickly fled on the bike.Photos of both youths were captured in the CCTV camera installed at the house opposite. The accused, Sumit, son of Lala Singh and Krishna son of Vishwamohan, residents of Trilokpur village in Chaubeypur, were arrested from Barauli Road and the stolen cylinder was recovered from their possession.Police said Sumit already had half-a-dozen cases of attempt to murder and Arms Act registered against him at Chaubeypur police station. Both the accused were produced before the court and sent to jail from there.
