BSAs asked to rope in MPs, MLAs in ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’

Lucknow: For effective implementation of ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’, the UP govt has now asked all basic education officers to establish contact with elected representatives of their districts and seek their active participation in ensuring that no child is deprived of admissions to the grade appropriate for their age.The officials have also been asked to convince the MPs and MLAs to allocated maximum funds towards development related schemes in the education sector like construction of classrooms, availability of furniture, setting of ICT labs and smart classrooms etc.In a missive to all BSAs, additional chief secretary, basic and secondary education, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma stated that education officials should secure active cooperation from public representatives in ensuring every child goes to school.BSAs have been asked to achieve objectives like enrolment of every three-year-old child in a ‘Bal Vatika‘ (Preschool) or Anganwadi Centre, every six-year-old in class 1, re-enrolment of school dropouts, enrolment of class 5 in class 6 and of class 8 in class 9.The public representatives should also be apprised of educational activities such as the DBT scheme for providing free uniforms, shoes and socks, school bags and stationery to students, free textbooks, achievements under NIPUN mission, establishment of ICT labs and smart classes.

In addition, BSAs should also inform the MPs and MLAs about the sanctions approved for CM Model Composite Schools, and CM Abhyudaya Composite Schools, admission of children belonging to disadvantaged groups and weaker sections into private schools under the provisions of the RTE Act etc.Sharma further stated that the idea to rope in elected representatives with the campaign is not only to ensure every child is enrolled in school but also to facilitate the provision of quality education—integrated with the latest technology – that can ensure bright future of every child in the state.
