Varanasi: A youth was arrested for allegedly murdering his sister-in-law by attacking her with an axe in Lachchhapur village under Mirzamurad police station area on Saturday morning.DCP Varuna/Gomati zones Pramod Kumar said police arrested Ajeet Patel and recovered the axe he had used to kill his sister-in-law Poonam Patel, 30, of Lachhapur village. The body was sent for postmortem, while, during initial investigation it came to light that Ajeet wanted to marry Poonam’s sister but the latter was opposed to the idea.Poonam was married to Ajeet’s elder brother Sujeet Kumar Patel, a Group-D employee in railways. The couple had a 6-year-old son. Ajeet was hell-bent on marrying Poonam’s sister and used to quarrel with her for opposing. On Friday night too, Ajeet quarrelled with Poonam but other family members calmed them down. On Saturday morning, Ajeet attacked Poonam with an axe, killing her on the spot.
