Sheikhpura cops told to wear body cameras during field duty

Biharsharif: A day after additional director general of police (ADG) Amit Lodha took charge as the nodal officer for Sheikhpura district, superintendent of police (SP), Baliram Kumar Choudhary, on the ADG’s directive, asked all police personnel to mandatorily wear body cameras during field duties to enhance transparency and bolster public trust.Addressing a monthly crime review meeting on Saturday, the SP said all personnel must wear body cameras while leaving police stations for routine work, raids and patrolling so that police actions are digitally recorded and remain accountable. He also instructed all station house officers (SHOs) to hold daily briefings with their teams, prepare task lists and ensure effective execution of assigned duties.Emphasising prompt policing, Choudhary directed immediate response to criminal incidents and stressed speedy execution of court-issued summons and warrants with regular monitoring.

He asked officers to fast-track investigations pending for over a year and ensure early submission of charge sheets. The SP underlined the need to strengthen technology-driven policing by regularly updating data on digital platforms introduced under the new criminal laws.Special focus was laid on applications such as Vatsalya, Samanvay, Pratibimb and ITSO. While Vatsalya will be used to upload details and photographs of missing minors, Pratibimb enables tracking of cybercriminals across the country. Officers were instructed to consistently update data on crimes against minors, including sexual offences, on ITSO and share it among police units. They were also asked to regularly upload investigation details on the e-Sakshya portal to reinforce evidence-based and technology-driven policing.
