Legendary singer Asha Bhosle has passed away at 92 following a brief illness. Admitted to Breach Candy Hospital with heart and breathing issues, her condition led to multiple organ failure. Tributes poured in from across the Indian entertainment industry, with stars like Chiranjeevi and Jr NTR mourning the loss of her iconic voice, a timeless companion to Indian cinema.

Veteran singer Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday at the age of 92 after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday. She had heart and breathing problems. Later, it led to multiple organ failure.

Several actors and stars from the regional entertainment industry also shared their tributes upon learning the news.

Chiranjeevi remembers Asha Bhosle’s voice

Tollywood’s Megastar Chiranjeevi took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to share his sadness. He wrote, “Asha Bhosle ji’s voice has been a timeless companion to Indian cinema, carrying a spectrum of emotions across generations. I have always admired the effortless grace and versatility she brought to every song. Indian cinema has lost one of its most irreplaceable voices. My heartfelt condolences to her family. Om Shanti.”

Jr NTR calls her Indian cinema’s heartbeat

Actor Jr NTR praised her soulful voice, calling it “the heartbeat of Indian cinema for decades.” His tweet read, “Deeply saddened by the news of Asha Bhosle ji’s passing. Her magical voice was the heartbeat of Indian cinema for decades and touched millions of hearts. She leaves behind a legacy that will live on for generations and will always be remembered with respect and love. My deepest condolences to her family. Om Shanti.”

In addition, actor Kasthuri Shankar said, “My deepest heartfelt condolences to the entire world of music and all music lovers across the world who grew up with Asha Bhosle ji’s songs. We lost Lata ji recently and now we have lost Asha ji also – two of the biggest names in the history of Indian playback singing. I pray for her soul to rest in peace. We will miss you. In Tamil Nadu, we grew up by listening to not just her Hindi but also her Tamil songs…It is a huge loss for music on the whole. She has left us today but I feel that she is going to watch us from up there somewhere and bless the next generation of singers in India.”
