In a heartbreaking loss for Indian music, legendary singer Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday at the age of 92. With a career spanning over eight decades, she leaves behind an unparalleled legacy that shaped the soundscape of Hindi cinema and beyond. Veteran actor Helen, who shared one of Hindi cinema’s most iconic singer-performer partnerships with Bhosle, expressed deep grief.

In a heartbreaking loss for Indian music, legendary singer Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday at the age of 92. With a career spanning over eight decades, she leaves behind an unparalleled legacy that shaped the soundscape of Hindi cinema and beyond.Confirming the news, Dr Pratit Samdani from Breach Candy Hospital said, “Asha Bhosle breathed her last today in Breach Candy Hospital. She passed away due to multi-organ failure.” The singer had reportedly been admitted on Saturday evening following extreme exhaustion and a chest infection.

Helen ‘shocked’, remembers their magical collaboration

Veteran actor Helen, who shared one of Hindi cinema’s most iconic singer-performer partnerships with Bhosle, expressed deep grief.Speaking to Hindustan Times, Helen said, “This is shocking. She was so healthy and we had been in touch. I’m feeling terrible and short of words. We had a long friendship. I remember how she would modulate her voice and add that oomph to my songs, which made it more enjoyable to perform. We have lost a gem.”The duo created magic together in over 270 songs, delivering timeless hits like O Haseena Zulfonwali (Teesri Manzil, 1966), Aa Jaane Jaan (Intaqam, 1969), Piya Tu Ab To Aaja (Caravan, 1971), Mehbooba Mehbooba (Sholay, 1975) and Yeh Mera Dil (Don, 1978).

Their collaboration became synonymous with glamour, rhythm and unmatched screen presence.
