The death of Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee during a shoot nearly two weeks ago continues to raise serious questions, with the exact circumstances of his passing still unclear.
While initial reports point to drowning during a shoot that was being held at Talsari Beach, the industry is still seeking answers.Amid growing concern, the Artists’ Forum held an emergency meeting today, attended by around 900 members. Addressing the gathering, Prosenjit Chatterjee reflected both the grief and the collective stance of the industry. “One of our artists went for a shoot around 14 days ago, and even today, we still don’t know how he passed away… it feels like we have lost a member of our own family.”

He also addressed the ongoing debate around a possible “ban” and the sentiment within the fraternity. “Many are saying we are imposing a ban – but we do not have the authority to do that. Around 900 people attended today, and almost everyone said they feel insecure working if these individuals are involved… those who loved Rahul deserve to know how he died.” The Artists’ Forum is also making another effort – keeping this incident in mind – to start discussions with producers so that those who are currently out of work can be accommodated elsewhere. Even if out of ten people, two can be placed in other projects, the Artists’ Forum is trying to make that happen.” added Prosenjit.
