Dumper overturns on chaat cart, 2 killed

Kanpur: A gravel-laden dumper travelling on the Mohan-Lucknow road overturned on a roadside chaat cart, leaving two people dead and two injured, in Nevalganj village, Hasanganj, Unnao, at around 6 pm on Sunday.Three people standing near the vendor’s cart got buried under the gravel, while one got trapped under the dumper. After about an hour of effort, all were pulled out. Two died, while two, including the shop owner, were injured. One person whose condition was critical was referred to Lucknow’s Trauma Centre.Bauwa, resident of Nevalganj village in Hasanganj, lived in a settlement along Lucknow-Bangarmau road and ran a chaat cart. On Sunday, Ashok (35), son of Radheshyam, Suraj (14), son of Rajkumar, and Saleem (35), son of Waheed, all residents of Nevalganj, were standing near the cart when the dumper overturned on it.The dumper went out of control due to the negligence of the driver, Kapil, from the same villager. Hearing screams, eye-witnesses informed police and began rescue efforts.Police arrived and called for a bulldozer to remove the gravel. After about an hour, shop owner Bauwa and customer Saleem were pulled out alive, but Ashok and Suraj were declared dead by doctors at the CHC. Injured Saleem was referred to Trauma Centre, Lucknow. The shop owner, who sustained minor injuries, went home after treatment at CHC.SHO Sharad Kumar said the dumper driver had been taken into custody. Villagers said the driver was under the influence of alchohol.
