Tesla CEO Elon Musk says ‘South Africa won’t allow Starlink to be licensed, simply because I am not …’

X executive chairman Elon Musk

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has once again accused the South African officials of refusing to license Starlink in the country because is not Black, despite being born there. In a post shared on social media platform X (Formerly known as Twitter) Musk wrote, “South Africa won’t allow Starlink to be licensed, even though I was BORN THERE, simply because I am not Black! We were offered many times the opportunity to bribe our way to a license by pretending that a Black guy runs Starlink SA, but I have refused to do so on principle.

Racism should not be rewarded no matter to which race it is applied. Shame on the racist politicians in South Africa. They should be shown no respect whatsoever anywhere in the world and shunned for being unashamedly RACISTS!”Musk alleged that the officials repeatedly presented him with a path to approval that involved misrepresenting who controls a local Starlink entity, a proposal he said he rejected. Musk framed the dispute as a matter of principle, arguing that discrimination should not be incentivized regardless of the group it targets.

He also urged people to ostracize politicians he described as racists.

Starlink has become a high-profile connectivity solution

The accusation stands out because Starlink has become a high-profile connectivity solution in many markets. Venture capitalist Marc Andreessen recently described Starlink as a rare technological breakthrough, succeeding where earlier satellite internet ventures such as Motorola’s Iridium and Teledesic failed. Andreessen credited SpaceX’s reusable rockets and rapid satellite deployment strategy for scaling Starlink to millions of subscribers worldwide.

Starlink has also expanded into aviation, with reports of discussions with American Airlines about in-flight connectivity, and into mobile services with upgrades aimed at higher speeds and capacity. Musk has emphasized affordability, announcing plans to cut prices and even offer free hardware in developing countries.Starlink’s rise comes amid growing competition from Amazon’s Project Kuiper, which is pursuing telecom partnerships to strengthen mobile networks in underserved regions.

Both companies are racing to dominate satellite broadband as demand for global connectivity surges.

Elon Musk blames South Africa of ‘anti-White laws

In another post, Elon Musk accused the country of “anti-White laws”.“The facts are there for anyone to observe,” he said adding “South Africa now has more anti-White laws than there were anti-Black laws under Apartheid!”.“I am extremely opposed to anti-Black laws, but equally opposed to the laws against White people or other races too.

There should be a fair and even playing field.”Musk has recently criticized a South African Expropriation Act, which reportedly permits land seizure without compensation only in limited “just and equitable” public interest cases for reform.“Confiscation of land from anyone who isn’t Black was formally passed into law in South Africa. That is where America is headed if not stopped,”Musk wrote in one such post. The claim ties into broader US debates on property rights, spotlighting NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s defense of appointee Cea Weaver’s calls to seize private homes—views Mamdani links to South Africa’s Freedom Charter for addressing inequality.
