Authorities have apprehended six individuals in connection with the illegal online leak of Vijay’s film ‘Jana Nayagan’. The Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing, acting on a complaint from the film’s producers, registered a case under multiple laws. Over 300 pirated links have been removed, and investigations are ongoing to curb further distribution of the movie.
After several clips from Vijay’s last film, ‘Jana Nayagan’ surfaced illegally online, the makers initiated legal action, which led the Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing to step in. In the latest development, six individuals have been arrested on allegations of involvement in the film’s online leak.
Authorities make six arrests
As per an India Today report, the Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing has arrested six people who were involved in sharing the film online. The police registered a case under several laws, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, IT Act, Copyright Act, and Cinematograph Act. Officials said the accused used cloud storage and shared drive links to spread the movie. These people are now in judicial custody.
Over 300 links taken down
It is also suggested that so far, more than 300 links have been taken down.
Special teams were formed to track the links and find who uploaded them. They also checked digital evidence from the arrested people. Authorities are still watching social media, websites, and file-sharing apps to stop more leaks.The makers of the film asked people to delete any illegal links immediately. They said strict legal action will be taken if anyone shares the movie. The Cyber Crime Wing also warned the public not to watch or share pirated content.
Production house statement
Earlier, the makers also shared that they will be taking legal action and asked fans to circulate or watch the clip. “We, KVN Productions LLP, are the Producers and exclusive copyright owners of the cinematograph film “Jana Nayagan”. It has come to our notice that certain scenes and clips from the said film and in some cases most of the film have been illegally accessed, copied and circulated by unidentified persons, posing a serious threat of digital piracy,” they wrote.Speaking about ‘Jana Nayagan’, the film directed by H Vinoth, it stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon and more.
