The final rites for legendary singer Asha Bhosle will be conducted on Monday (April 13, 2026) at Shivaji Park in Mumbai with full state honours- her mortal remains placed in a glass casket, draped in the Indian tricolour and adorned with white lilies, in a farewell befitting one of the greatest musical voices the country has ever produced.
The 92-year-old icon, who passed away on Sunday due to multi-organ failure after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital with a chest infection and exhaustion, was mourned by admirers at her residence Casa Grande in Lower Parel before the funeral procession made its way to the crematorium. Among those who gathered to pay their final respects were Sachin Tendulkar, Tabu, Riteish Deshmukh, Asha Parekh, Javed Ali, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Nitin Mukesh. Tributes from Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Chiranjeevi, Hema Malini, and Karan Johar continued to pour in throughout the day as the nation said its final goodbye to the legend.
Asha Bhosle’s final journey and last respects
The feted singer’s mortal remains have been placed in a glass casket, draped in the Indian tricolour and adorned with white lilies, symbolising the nation’s respect for her legacy. A ceremonial police salute was also carried out as part of the state honours. Her son, Anand Bhosle, shared that admirers can pay their last respects at her residence, Casa Grande in Lower Parel, before the funeral procession moves to the Shivaji Park crematorium in Dadar, where the last rites will take place at 4 pm.
