Mrunal Thakur turned an ordinary promotional appearance at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival on Saturday night, into a memorable fan moment. The actor, who was at the festival ended up cancelling her scheduled plans just to watch veteran singer Usha Uthup perform live. As Uthup took the stage, the atmosphere transformed into a vibrant musical celebration, with the audience grooving to hit numbers including Senorita and several other crowd favourites. Among them was Mrunal, who was right in front of the stage and soaked in the performance, while she danced and cheered on.

‘When Usha Uthup is on stage, you just have to be there’ Speaking to us exclusively post the event, Mrunal couldn’t hide her admiration for the iconic singer.
“Usha ma’am is fantastic! I was fortunate enough to work with her on a saree commercial a few months back, and there’s so much I learned from her on that set,” she said. Recalling a special memory, she added, “During the time we spent working on the ad, she sang a song for me, Flowers by Miley Cyrus, because I’m a flower child and I just love flowers. She dedicated that song to me on set. And tonight, it was surreal to just witness her live. When Usha Uthup is on stage, you just have to be there!” From 15 Minutes to the whole evening
What was meant to be a brief stop for Mrunal, turned into an all-night experience. “Today was just like a treat. I’m just so happy that I was here to promote my film,” she shared. “When I came to know she was performing, I decided to stay back for a while. I was actually going to be here for 15 minutes, but I ended up being here for the entire show! I cancelled all my plans. And I was like, everyone else can wait!” She added emphatically, “When she is performing, you have to just enjoy.
And the happiness she spreads is unbelievable. She is a living legend.” A bond formed on set Mrunal also spoke about how her association with Usha Uthup began during the recent advertisement shoot. “We really connected on set,” she said warmly, before adding simply, “I just love her.” Her spontaneous decision to stay back, dancing among fans rather than maintaining celebrity distance, became one of the evening’s most endearing highlights, reflecting the spirit of Kala Ghoda Arts Festival: where art dissolves boundaries and legends inspire even the stars.
