Mohit Malhotra, a seasoned television actor, is now prioritizing quality scripts and challenging roles across various platforms, including OTT.
Having built a strong presence on television with shows like Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Sasural Genda Phool, Bhagya Lakshmi, Naagin 5, Jamai Raja, Beintehaa, and Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, Mohit Malhotra has witnessed the industry evolve over the years. With a film debut in Hacked, the actor today finds himself at a phase where choices matter more than ever.
“Right now, I’m focusing on quality work—scripts that excite me and characters that challenge me,” he says, underlining his intent to grow as a performer.
“I’m also exploring different platforms and not limiting myself.”Reflecting on the rapid transformation of the entertainment landscape, Mohit acknowledges both opportunity and pressure. “The industry has changed massively. The biggest positive is that there are more opportunities today, especially with OTT.
New talent is getting a chance, and content has become more important than just star power,” he shares. However, he is equally aware of the downsides. “It’s also become very fast-paced and sometimes short-lived.
There’s a constant pressure to stay relevant.”Despite his successful run on television, Mohit maintains a selective approach when it comes to returning to the medium. “Television has given me a lot, so I’m always open to coming back—but it has to be something meaningful.
I don’t want to do something just for the sake of being visible,” he states firmly, reinforcing his focus on substance over presence.When it comes to his personal life, the actor prefers to draw a clear boundary. “I like to keep that part of my life private. I believe some things are better experienced than shared,” he says. On the subject of settling down, he adds with a calm perspective, “I think it happens when it’s meant to.
There are no timelines—I’m just going with the flow.”In an era dominated by digital presence, Mohit admits that social media plays a significant role but also comes with its own expectations. “Social media is important, no doubt—it’s a direct connection with the audience. But yes, there is pressure to constantly be active and visible,” he explains. Still, he is mindful of maintaining authenticity. “I try to keep a balance. I don’t want it to feel forced or like a chore.
At the end of the day, whatever I put out there should feel real.”
