Bail denied to man arrested in Rs 11cr drugs case

Panaji: A local court has denied bail to Vineesh KV, a native of Kerala, in an alleged Rs 11 crore narcotics case. According to the prosecution, Muhammed Sameer was allegedly found with suspected LSD worth Rs 27 lakh at Bambanwado, Siolim. He showed police Vineesh’s house, where they further recovered more suspected LSD worth Rs 10.8 crore and suspected ganja, all worth Rs 11 crore. Vineesh was absconding and was detained at Bengaluru airport in Dec last year by immigration officials based on a lookout notice. The court observed that the charge is yet to be framed and that Vineesh was absconding right from day one of registering the offence and that the contraband is prima facie found from his house.“In the instant case, the offence is very serious in nature and cannot be taken lightly,” the court stated. Public prosecutor Coleman Rodrigues sought dismissal of Vineesh’s bail application, stating that the incriminating articles were found in Vineesh’s house and that Sameer stayed at the residence only in emergency situations and had no control of the house.
