Vishu is about hope for a better year ahead: Anishma Anilkumar

Actress Anishma Anilkumar, who was recently shooting for a Tamil film in Tirunelveli, is flying back home for Vishu this year. Having grown up in Thiruvananthapuram and now based in Kochi, the Maranamass actress says she’s especially looking forward to celebrating the festival with her family.

She says, “I haven’t celebrated Vishu at home for the past three years, so it feels special that I can finally be there this time.”Recalling Vishu mornings from her childhood, she says, “Every year, we would visit a nearby temple that our family regularly attends. Then, there’s the Vishu kani. I used to see the kani early in the morning with my achan, amma and grandparents.”For Anishma, Vishu carries a deeper meaning. “It’s about hope — the belief that the coming year will be better.”Naturally, the festive feast is something she’s eagerly anticipating. “After hectic schedules, going home and enjoying a proper sadhya is something I really look forward to,” she says. Her plan for the day, she adds, will be simple and familiar. “It will be a complete family affair — waking up early, seeing the kani, visiting the temple, enjoying sadhya and spending time with my parents and grandparents. That’s been our Vishu routine for years.”The trip home will also mean catching up with friends she hasn’t seen in a while. “That’s another part of Vishu I’m looking forward to,” she says.
