Haridwar: A 45-year-old hotelier allegedly died by suicide in the Ganpati Dham area under Kankhal police station limits in Haridwar on Thursday.Police said he had been running a hotel since last year and was under financial stress due to mounting losses, high rent and a lack of customers, losing around Rs 1 lakh a month.
Over the past week, he had also been searching for work in the Sidcul industrial area but was unsuccessful.Kankhal SSI Anuj Singh said, “Family members told us that the man had shut the establishment last week. He had previously attempted suicide in 2021 but was saved by his wife. No suicide note was found at the scene.” Police have taken custody of the body and initiated an investigation.
