Amid the renewed discussion, an earlier statement by filmmaker Alleppey Ashraf has resurfaced. As reported by Manorama News, Ashraf had previously spoken about the rumours in detail.Alleppey Ashraf said in an earlier interview, “Some people are curious to know whether Kalyani will marry Mohanlal’s son Pranav. Many may wish for it, and many may believe it. I directly asked Lissy about this.

Lissy said, ‘Ashraf ikka, if they had such a wish, wouldn’t it be something that would make both families happy? But there is no such relationship between them. They have shared a brother–sister bond since childhood.

Appu has been like a hero to all of them—he would climb trees, jump over walls, and was a hero figure among the kids. Kalyani has not been in love with anyone so far. I’m sure of that,’ Lissy said.”

Childhood bond, not romance

Kalyani Priyadarshan and Pranav Mohanlal’s bond has often been described as similar to that of siblings rather than romantic partners.Their on-screen pairing in films like ‘Hridayam’ and ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ received strong appreciation from the audiences. Pranav Mohanlal had earlier appeared in the Priyadarshan’s directorial epic drama ‘Kunjali Marakkar’, where the ‘Dies Irae’ actor played the childhood version of Mohanlal.
