Dhanbad officials inspect water lines amid underground fire; Contingency plans in place for summer water supply

Dhanbad: Senior officials from the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation inspected the water supply lines running through the underground fire-affected areas in Kenduadih police station limits amid the ongoing toxic gas emissions and subsidence.Dhanbad municipal commissioner Ashish Gangwar visited the affected region to assess the situation on Thursday and Friday. During his inspection, water supply lines were tested and monitored, but no damages or leakage were detected.Officials said the civic body has begun preparing contingency plans to supply water to the subsidence prone zones during the summer months as frequent ground instability and gas leakage incidents threaten to damage underground pipelines.“We have taken preventive steps and ensured alternative arrangements so that residents do not suffer from lack of water, which is a basic necessity,” he said. “In anticipation of any future disruption, backup systems are being put in place to maintain regular supply,” Gangwar added.
