Nalanda woman dies under mysterious circumstances

Biharsharif: A woman from Salembad village under Rahui police station area in Nalanda district died under mysterious circumstances late on Thursday night. The family members have alleged that she was murdered.The deceased, identified as Rupa Kumari, wife of Lalan Yadav, fell critically ill at her residence around 9pm on Thursday. According to police, she was initially treated by a local practitioner before being taken to private healthcare facilities in Biharsharif. As her condition deteriorated, she was referred to Patna for advanced treatment but she died on the way, officials said.Rupa’s relatives, however, alleged that she was murdered by her in-laws.Police said they received information about the incident around 6.30am on Friday, following which senior officials were alerted. The SHO of Rahui police station, accompanied by police team, rushed to the village and initiated an inquiry.SDPO (Sadar-II), Biharsharif, Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal, also visited the spot and supervised the preliminary investigation. Statements were recorded from the deceased’s brother, members from both her parental and matrimonial families, local witnesses, and the rural doctor who first attended to her.

“The exact cause of death will be ascertained only after the postmortem report comes,” a police official said.The body has been sent to the Sadar Hospital, Biharsharif, for autopsy, while a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has examined the spot for evidence.Based on a written complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother, an unnatural death (UD) case (No. 05/26) was registered at Rahui police station on Friday.
