Delhi Police Families Welfare Push: Skill Development, Health Care in Focus at PFWS Foundation Day

New Delhi: Efforts to expand welfare support for police families in the capital are increasingly focusing on skill development, healthcare access and specialised support systems, with a range of initiatives outlined at the 54th Foundation Day of the Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS) at Adarsh auditorium, Police Headquarters.A key proposal introduced by CM Rekha Gupta at the event was a “green empowerment” initiative to promote sustainable livelihoods in police colonies by training family members to recycle textile waste into usable household products.PFWS president Rachna Golchha said among the upcoming initiatives is “Kiran”, a programme for children with special needs from police families. Existing efforts include the Sutra Embroidery Centre and jute product-making courses aimed at promoting self-reliance.Over the past eight months, PFWS has organised 23 health camps in collaboration with hospitals such as Medanta, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre, and Radix Malik Hospital. The society has also partnered with private firms, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities, Singer India and Sahyog Care4U for skill development initiatives. The event also saw the release of the 10th edition of PFWS’s annual magazine, Koshish Ek Asha, along with its digital version.
