Bicholim: A mock drill for the Shirgao jatra was held late Saturday night. After taking stock of the preparations, chief minister Pramod Sawant told police and fire services to maintain strict control and act firmly against troublemakers, including ‘dhonds’, to ensure safety.
Collector Ankit Yadav also reviewed the preparations. North Goa SP Harishchandra Madkaikar said 960 police and 200 home guards were deployed. Fire services director Nitin Raikar said special equipment had been deployed to monitor the event.
