NEW DELHI: Rising star Prathamesh Fuge showed exceptional composure to defeat Ojas Deotale in a dramatic shoot-off and win gold in the senior compound men’s category at the National Ranking Archery Championship here.The contest lived up to expectations, as both archers were locked at 147-147 after regulation. In the shoot-off, each delivered a perfect 10, but Prathamesh’s arrow landed closer to the bullseye, giving him the decisive advantage.The familiarity built through years of training together was evident in the evenly-matched battle. “We know each other’s game well, so I prepared accordingly,” Prathamesh said. “I stayed calm in the crucial moments, and that made the difference.” The win boosts his confidence as he eyes selection for upcoming international events, including the Asian Games.In the senior compound women’s final, Maya Bishnoi clinched gold after edging Avneet Kaur 143-142. Maya maintained a slender lead in the closing ends to seal victory.
