Those final runs confirmed him as Britain’s first medal winner of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games and the first British man to win Olympic skeleton gold.Trackside, his family lived every moment differently. Alex hugged Weston’s mother Alison as the crowd celebrated.
Speaking after the win, Alex said, “It feels amazing to be honest. I told you that he’d get a gold and he did. We couldn’t be prouder.” The couple are set to marry in July and share a ten-year-old cocker spaniel named Logan.His father also praised him, saying, “He’s definitely that good. I knew he’d be very close, at least second. Absolutely proud of him.” The win was even sweeter after earlier controversy around British helmets being ruled illegal, forcing Weston and teammate Marcus Wyatt to return to their old equipment. It made no difference to the result, Weston stayed focused and finished on top, turning a tense family watch into a night of celebration for Team GB.
