Director David Dhawan has officially responded to the digital firestorm surrounding the teaser of his upcoming romantic comedy, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Returning to the director’s chair after a six-year hiatus, the veteran filmmaker addressed the widespread backlash regarding the use of AI-generated babies in the film’s first look.Reuniting with his son Varun Dhawan, David Dhawan clarified that the futuristic and controversial creative choice was strictly a marketing tactic.

David Dhawan responded to the backlash during an interview with ANI in Mumbai. He explained the purpose behind the promotional clip. “It is just a tease. Teaser ka matlab kya hai? Kuch alag karne ke liye banake dekha humne,” (“What does a teaser even mean? We made it just to try something different,”) said the veteran filmmaker.
The director stressed that the AI-generated babies were created only for the teaser. They will not appear in the theatrical version of the film.
This clarification came after widespread online reactions.

The production team further addressed concerns through statements to the media. Reports in The Free Press Journal quoted the makers saying the AI babies served as a quick promotional tool. They wanted a visually arresting way to introduce the love triangle without revealing actual footage from the movie.
