As temperatures rise, interiors are shifting toward breathable spaces, soothing colors, and a more relaxed aesthetic.
As summer sets in, homes are moving towards a softer, more breathable aesthetic. According to Lokendra Ranawat, CEO and Co-Founder of Wooden Street, the focus this season is as much on comfort as it is on style. “Summer décor today is about how a space feels,” he says. “People want homes that are light, relaxed and easy to live in, rather than overly styled or rigid.” Colour palettes are seeing a noticeable shift. “We are moving away from stark whites and greys to warmer, nature-inspired tones like terracotta, sage green, soft blues and muted peach,” Ranawat explains. “These shades create a calmer, more inviting environment.” Materials, too, are becoming lighter. “Heavy fabrics are being replaced with breathable options like linen and cotton,” he notes. “Natural elements such as cane, rattan and jute are also gaining popularity because they enhance both comfort and visual lightness.” Another defining trend is the blending of indoor and outdoor spaces. “Even without a balcony, people are bringing in plants, natural textures and more light,” he says.
“It helps create an open, airy feel that suits the season.” Ranawat also highlights a move towards more personal styling. “Perfectly matched furniture sets are no longer in demand. People prefer mixing styles, adding statement pieces and incorporating artisanal touches to make their homes feel unique.” At the same time, certain trends are fading. “Dark, bulky furniture, overcrowded spaces and overly minimal, cold interiors are being replaced by layered neutrals and thoughtful design,” he adds. For Ranawat, the approach is simple: “Keep it light, natural and personal — that is what defines summer homes today.”
