Zohran Mamdani is not taking the jokes too seriously after fans blamed him for the New York Mets falling into a shocking 11-game losing streak. The talk started after a short video showed him meeting the team mascots at Citi Field on the day the Mets last won a game.

Since then, the clip spread fast online, crossing millions of views, and many fans began calling it a “curse.” Things got louder when the Mets lost again to the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, stretching the skid to the worst in the team’s history. Soon after, a nickname, “Mayor Mambino,” started trending. It was first used by the New York Post, playing on the famous “Curse of the Bambino” story in baseball. Mamdani, however, stayed calm and even joined in on the humor instead of pushing back.

Speaking at a press conference, Zohran Mamdani kept his tone light and showed support for the team. He said, “There’s a lot of baseball to be played. I’m still keeping the faith as I know that many Mets fans are across the city.” Then he added with a smile, “I will accept being addressed as Mayor Mambino for the day. I think that this is part and parcel of what it means to be the mayor. You take it in stride.”When asked if he would do anything to help end the losing run, Mamdani kept it simple. “I’m going to send all the best wishes to the team,” he said, adding that he will continue wearing his Mets hat to show support. While the jokes continue online, the real concern is on the field. Even with star player Juan Soto in the lineup, the Mets have struggled badly to score runs during this stretch.

The team has looked out of rhythm, especially in key moments.Manager Carlos Mendoza is now facing heavy criticism from fans. Many are questioning his decisions, especially how he is handling the bullpen and guiding the team during tough games. The Mets will now try to stop the slide as they face the Minnesota Twins in a three-game series at Citi Field. For fans, the focus is clear, ending the losing streak matters more than any nickname or viral moment.
