Raj govt okays 2% DA hike

Jaipur: The state govt Thursday approved a 2% increase in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for employees and pensioners. Employees and pensioners under the 7th Pay Scale will now be entitled to DA or DR increased from 58% to 60%, with effect from Jan 1, 2026.

This decision will benefit approximately 7.02 lakh employees and 5.44 lakh pensioners.

Employees of panchayat samiti and zila parishad will also benefit from this increase. This decision will result in an annual financial burden of about Rs 1,156 crore on the state govt. Employees will receive cash payment of the enhanced DA from the salary of May 2026, payable in June, while the arrear amount for four months from Jan 1 to April 30, 2026, will be credited to the general provident fund accounts of the employees. Pensioners will receive a cash payment of DR from Jan 1, 2026.
