A former senior employee of MrBeast’s media company has filed a federal lawsuit alleging years of sexual harassment, gender bias, and wrongful termination. This ends up adding a significant new chapter to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding YouTube’s biggest creator.

The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina by Lorrayne Mavromatis, a former executive who worked for MrBeast from August 22, 2022, until November 6, 2025.

Who is Lorrayne Mavromatis? Lawsuit explained

Lorrayne Mavromatis is a Brazilian-born content creator who possesses a significant following on Instagram and YouTube. She was essentially hired as Beast Industries’ head of Instagram back in 2022, and the personality was later promoted to head of creative in 2023.Eventually, she reached the Chief Operating Officer role for the Verticals division. This made her one of the most senior employees working at the company, and over 20 people were working under her. As part of the lawsuit, Mavromatis described a workplace culture in which harassment of women employees was normalised, and complaints were dismissed. Central to the complaint is the alleged conduct of the company’s then-CEO, James Warren, who required Mavromatis to meet him at his home in a “poorly lit” room rather than the company office.

During the same, he allegedly made inappropriate comments about her appearance.

Following these episodes, she began wearing loose-fitting clothes so that her looks would not negatively impact her employment. When she complained about sexual harassment and the hostile environment to Beast Industries’ head of HR, she was told that her claims were “unsubstantiated,” and was subsequently demoted and transferred to a role known among MrBeast employees as the division where “careers go to die.”As Mavromatis described in her own statement, the double standard applied to women in the workplace was stark: “They told me to shut up in front of my entire team. Yelling at your team at MrBeast meant you were a strong leader. A woman speaking meant she was a problem.”The company fired Mavromatis less than three weeks after she returned from pregnancy-related leave, telling her she was “too high caliber” for the role she had been demoted into after formally raising her complaints.

How did Beast Industries respond to the allegations?

Beast Industries denied the allegations in a statement, calling the complaint “built on deliberate misrepresentations and categorically false statements.” They further added that the company has extensive evidence, including Slack and WhatsApp messages, company documents, and witness testimony, that refutes her claims.
