Paige Shiver claims she was pregnant during relationship with ex-Michigan coach Sherrone Moore (Michigan On BTN/X)

Paige Shiver has shared an emotional new detail about her relationship with former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore. In a new interview, she said that she got pregnant during their nearly four-year affair and later terminated it due to medical risks.

Speaking on Good Morning America, Shiver described a situation shaped by power imbalance, health concerns and emotional strain. Her comments add a new layer to a case that had already led to Moore’s firing and legal trouble.

Paige Shiver said the pregnancy came just months after the relationship began in early 2022, when she was an intern and Moore an assistant coach. Her voice faltered as she recalled learning the news.

“Multiple doctors and experts told me that it wouldn’t be right or healthy for me to keep the baby.” When asked if she wanted to continue the pregnancy, she replied, “Yeah.”

The decision, she said, was shaped by her diagnosis of Pompe disease, a condition that weakens muscles and can affect the heart and lungs. Doctors advised that continuing the pregnancy could pose serious risks. She said Moore was aware of the situation and told her, “You have to do what’s right for your body.”

That moment now sits at the center of her broader claims. What began as a consensual relationship, she suggests, gradually became more complicated. Looking back, she questioned her own feelings at the time. “Back then, I did, but obviously looking back at things and really reflecting on what happened, what was happening, that’s not love at all,” she said.

Paige Shiver shares how Sherrone Moore tried to control her

Paige Shiver’s account points repeatedly to control and dependency.

She described how her role evolved as Moore rose to head coach, eventually making her his executive assistant. With that came a sense of vulnerability. “He could fire me in a second,” she said.Even when she tried to leave, she claims the relationship did not end easily. “Every time I tried to pull away, he always had a story, always had a way to pull me in and making me feel that I couldn’t leave him because he was so miserable without me,” she said.

She added, “He and other coaches had control over my career, especially him.”Her criticism also extends to the institution. She said she initially denied the relationship during a human resources inquiry because she did not trust the process. “No one cared about my feelings,” she said. “They wanted to use me to help him so that they could get through the season.”The fallout has been significant. Moore was fired in December 2025 after an internal investigation found credible evidence of misconduct. Legal issues followed, including probation and a fine after misdemeanor charges. Public reaction, particularly online, has been divided, with some questioning Shiver’s portrayal of events.Shiver, who no longer works at the university, said she chose to speak publicly to warn others. Her account frames the relationship not just as a personal mistake, but as a situation shaped by authority, silence and missed oversight.
