Sports enthusiasts attending the match in the ongoing Indian Premier League between the teams Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans can take the metro rail to the venue courtesy of an offer by the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL).The city transport service revealed that it has maintained its association with Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL), providing a unique offer to its metro customers in connection with the upcoming IPL 2026 match between Chennai Super Kings vs. Gujarat Titans taking place in Chennai on Sunday, April 26. The official post of Chennai Metro Rail on X reads, “Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is pleased to announce its continued collaboration with Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL) to provide exclusive sponsored Metro Rail services for spectators attending IPL 2026 matches at Chennai.
As part of this initiative, IPL 2026 League Match No. 37 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT), scheduled on Sunday, 26th April 2026, will be supported with sponsored metro rides and extended operational arrangements for match attendees.

Cricket enthusiasts with valid match tickets only will be provided with this sponsored ride. The valid match ticket will enable a round-trip journey between their chosen (Operational) Metro Stations and Government Estate Metro Station.
Cricket enthusiasts can scan the match ticket (both digital & Physical) tickets at the Automatic Gates. These valid match tickets can be used for one round trip (2 Entry & 2 Exit) for smooth entry and exit.
”The offer stipulates that only the spectators having legitimate tickets for the match, either electronic or hard copies thereof, will get the privilege of traveling by metro for free. The match ticketholders will just have to present their match tickets on scanning gates of metro stations, thus getting round-trip service between any active Chennai Metro station and Government Estate Metro Station that acts as a vital entry point to the match venue.
According to CMRL, each valid match ticket will be valid for a single round-trip service to the stadium, implying two trips in total for the ticketholder. Metro trains will function on Sunday frequencies on the same day, whereas some additional provisions for the rush traffic have been planned as well.This will provide a great travel benefit for the match-goers as it is seen that there is always heavy traffic around the ground on match-days of the league due to huge crowds of cricket lovers coming to the ground.Through metro transportation, visitors can avoid problems such as parking difficulties and time delays.Promoting metro transport by arranging a special train service on match days will reduce private transport by increasing eco-friendly transportation for the visitors.Cricket fans who come to watch the match in person have got yet another convenience with the introduction of the metro train offer.Travelling fans who arrive at the city through the railway station or bus station, or from other places of Chennai, can avail this special train facility to reach the destination.With Chennai Super Kings set to play in front of a packed home crowd, Sunday’s fixture may also become an example of how sports and smart mobility can work together in one of India’s busiest metropolitan cities.
