Chittoor TDP MP Daggumalla Prasad Rao criticized the Congress and DMK for opposing the delimitation and women’s reservation bills.
TIRUPATI: Chittoor TDP MP Daggumalla Prasad Rao asserted that the delimitation and the women reservation bills that were opposed and stalled by the Indian National Congress and it’s allies including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam recently in the Parliament, were historic bills meant to ensure a balance representation across the country. Addressing a joint press conference along with Chittoor MLA Gurajala Jaganmohan as part of a state call, Prasad Rao criticised the INC and the DMK for stalling the proposed Delimitation Bill and the Women reservation bill, as a deliberate attempt to weaken the political voice of southern India and a betrayal of the women of the country. The Chittoor MP clarified that the TDP supports the delimitation bill based on assurances that the parliamentary seats will be increased by 50% across the board on a prorata basis, ensuring Souther states do not lose out.
He dismissed fears that southern states would lose representation, calling such claims “fear mongering” and misplaced. Chittoor MLA Gurajala Jaganmohan stated that the TDP led NDA alliance will reiterate it’s commitment to both the Delimitation and the Women reservation bills and other reforms proposed by the BJP led NDA alliance at the centre, by staging protests against the INC and it’s allies across Andhra Pradesh soon.
