Jamshedpur: Protesters, under the banner of Rail Yatri Sangharsh Samiti, launched a signature campaign over persistent delay in passenger train services operating to and from Tatanagar station. The volunteers on Sunday installed a white board near the pathway to platform number one, which evoked an encouraging response as passengers travelling to the platform and exiting the station endorsed the issue by signing on the board.Besides, passengers filled the forms that were distributed among the people, aiming to seek their support for a sustained campaign till the demands were met.Forms were handed over to the people at the entry point of the platform and at the passenger ticket reservation counter building.
While a section of the passengers scanned the QR code and lent their support, many others shared the development on their social media accounts.“It is the beginning of a long-drawn battle. The public movement will further aggravate. We will be forced to scatter on the tracks to halt the goods trains in the coming days if the railway fails to ensure timely running of the passenger trains to and from Tatanagar,” said Saryu Roy, MLA Jamshedpur (West), who is leading the agitation.
