Rasha Thadani shares how dance shapes her fitness and mental well-being

Being Raveena Tandon’s daughter comes with a legacy, especially in dance, but Rasha Thadani is carving out her own identity. Her track Uyi Amma, from her debut film Azaad, went viral. Ahead of International Dance Day (April 29), Rasha reflects on why dance, for her, is far more than just a performance.

It is a sport,” she says. The actress believes that the idea of sport does not begin on a field, it begins with movement. “Dance is my favourite sport. It is entertaining and enjoyable. I try using the gym to stay fit as much as possible, and I dance,” she says.‘My mom is unbeatable’Speaking about the comparisons with her mother, Raveena, Rasha shares, “She is unbeatable. No matter how much I try, I will never be what she is.” The actress, when asked to choose one of her favourite songs from Raveena’s discography, says, “All her songs are nothing less than iconic.

I love Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare; it is one of my favourites. Sometimes, I cheekily dance to it.” And if she ever had to imagine a modern-day spin on it, she says, “I would like to dance with Yashvardhan (Govinda’s son) as my on-screen partner.

‘Fitness is as much about mental well-being as it is about physical strength’Talking about fitness, Rasha shares that her perspective evolved once she began working. She says, “I think I really understood the importance of fitness when I started working. It’s not just about looking a certain way, but about feeling healthy and being the best version of yourself. The demands of shoots, performances and public appearances made me realise that fitness is as much about mental well-being as it is about physical strength.
