Bhatpara Violence: CISF Jawan Shot in Jagaddal Clash, Tension Escalates
Tension intensified further when BJP candidate Rajesh Kumar reached the police station to lodge a complaint, where fresh clashes reportedly broke out. BJP alleged that their workers were attacked outside the police station, while TMC claimed their workers were assaulted first, blaming BJP leaders and supporters for the escalation. Serious allegations have also emerged of an attack near the residence of Pawan Kumar Singh, where firing reportedly took place, leading to the injury of a CISF jawan. Police resorted to lathi charge to control the situation, and heavy deployment of central forces and RAF has been made in the area. The Jagaddal–Bhatpara belt has witnessed repeated tensions ahead of elections, raising concerns over law and order as polling approaches. Authorities are maintaining a strict vigil as the situation remains tense.
