“That doesn’t look human”: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the IPL sensation comes under bizarre AI chip claim by Pakistani analyst | – The Times of India

Date:

Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is electrifying the IPL 2026 season with his record-breaking batting, leading to unusual speculation. Pakistani analyst Dr. Nauman Niaz suggested the young Indian star might be using an AI chip in his bat to explain his “unreal” performances. Sooryavanshi, however, continues to impress on the field, building on his Under-19 World Cup success.

The arena of cricket brilliance often invites skepticism, but few allegations are as peculiar as the one currently circling young Indian sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. As the 15-year-old takes the IPL 2026 season by storm with his explosive batting and record-breaking strike rates, his superhuman performances have led some observers to question the origins of his power. While fans celebrate his rapid rise from an Under-19 World Cup star to a crucial player for the Rajasthan Royals, critics have resorted to wild theories to explain his success.

AI chip in Sooryavanshi’s bat?

The controversy began when Pakistani cricket analyst Dr. Nauman Niaz suggested on a Pakistan-based show, Smash It, that Sooryavanshi’s remarkable batting prowess might be aided by technology.Commenting on the teenager’s blistering 36-ball century against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Niaz remarked, “I really wonder what that kid has been.

I think people need to check him at this point. Just like how you go through the doping tests, he also needs to check if he used an AI chip in his bat”. Niaz went on to state, “That doesn’t look human. He is unreal”.

So far in the 2026 IPL season, Sooryavanshi has been in sensational form, accumulating 357 runs across eight matches with a staggering strike rate of 234.86. His performance, which includes two fifties and a recent century, has built his status as one of the league’s most consistent and dangerous batters.

Despite his youth, he has already amassed 609 runs in 15 career IPL matches, maintaining an overall strike rate of 222.26. His ability to dominate experienced bowlers has even led former cricketers, such as Kris Srikkanth, to advocate for his inclusion in the senior Indian national team.Defending his own skepticism, Niaz noted, “When Sooryavanshi smashed four sixes in the very first over against Praful Hinge, then what’s left in the powerplay? His strike rate is over 200”.He further speculated on the nature of the player’s development, adding, “When you turn into 18 years, your body transforms… If you see Sooryavanshi, he has a great wrist position and a fine arc of his bat swing”.

More about the young talent

Before his success in the IPL, Sooryavanshi proved his mettle on the international stage as part of the Indian team that secured the Under-19 Cricket World Cup earlier this year. During that tournament, he scored 439 runs in seven matches, punctuated by a match-winning 175 off 80 balls against England in the final. For now, the young prodigy continues to let his performances speak for themselves, maintaining his focus on his game as the Rajasthan Royals look to capitalise on his incredible form for the remainder of the season.
