Jaipur: BJP state president Nitin Nabin, on his maiden visit to Rajasthan after assuming office, Monday called for a “united” party to take on
Congress
, asking workers to bury differences and present a cohesive front.
The message was delivered during the state core committee meeting held in the evening at the BJP office in Jaipur, which remained the most significant part of his daylong visit.
He also stressed the need to keep senior leaders in the loop for organisational guidance, adding, “I will return soon and review the issues discussed here.”The visit, however, began on a delayed note as his scheduled trip to Tonk was pushed back by nearly two hours due to a technical snag in the helicopter meant to ferry him from Jaipur.
He was scheduled to reach Tonk at 11:30 am, while he reached at 1:30 pm. The delay left people waiting at the public address venue.In Tonk, he inaugurated the district party office and virtually inaugurated six others in Bundi, Pratapgarh, Barmer, Churu, Dungarpur and Pali, besides laying the foundation stone for a party office in Jalore. Addressing party workers, he urged them to remain committed, saying the organisation recognises and rewards dedication.
He was joined by CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, party state president Madan Rathore and state incharge Radha Mohan Das Agrawal.Later in Jaipur, a nearly 12-km-long roadshow from the airport to the BJP state headquarters saw large crowds lining the route. Eleven welcome stages were set up by party units, with workers greeting the national president. He was received with a 101-kg garland and a ceremonial mace, while women workers showered flowers from JCB machines.A minor incident occurred at Gandhi Circle when a glass frame broke during the presentation of an image of Govind Dev Ji, injuring Jawahar Singh Bedam, who sustained minor injuries.The roadshow also featured cultural performances, including Kalbelia dance and devotional singing by BJP Mahila Morcha workers, along with traditional rituals. The massive turnout brought traffic to a standstill across key parts of Jaipur — Sahkar Marg, Tonk Road, Birla Mandir, SMS Stadium, JLN Marg, Gandhi Circle and 22 Godam — leaving people stuck for hours in the middle of a sweltering evening.With temperatures still above 40C, commuters sat in unmoving vehicles, many without water or proper ventilation, growing increasingly tired and frustrated.
