Man dies after being struck by local train at Mumbai's station

MUMBAI: A 73-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a train at Ghatkopar railway station on Monday. Police said Balasubramanium Iyer, the deceased, lived at Chembur.The incident occurred around 6.35 am. Police said Iyer was struck on the Up line on platform no. 2 by a slow local train. He suffered serious head injuries and bled profusely. His right leg was severed in the accident.

Police rushed him to Rajawadi Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead at 6.58 am.Kurla Govt Railway Police recorded an accidental death case. Police said he was not carrying any belongings or identification on him.
