SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia claims 2 AAP Lok Sabha MPs may quit party

CHANDIGARH: Close on the heels of seven Rajya Sabha MPs, including six from Punjab, leaving AAP to join the BJP, senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Tuesday claimed that two Lok Sabha MPs of AAP may also quit the party. Majithia posted on X, “Another day, another departure loading…Sources indicate 2 Lok Sabha MPs may soon be flying out of @AamAadmiParty. The “frequent flier” list just keeps growing.” AAP has three MPs in Lok Sabha, all three from Punjab. They are Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang, Hoshiarpur MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal and Sangrur MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer. According to recent updates in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat records, seven Aam Aadmi Party members were officially shown to have aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), reflecting significant changes in the Upper House composition. The reported shifts have altered the numerical strength of parties in the Rajya Sabha. The BJP’s strength has risen, while the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) tally has also increased, strengthening its position in the Upper House.Meanwhile, the Congress holds 29 members, the Trinamool Congress has 13, the DMK has 8, the YSR Congress Party has 7, the Biju Janata Dal has 6, and the AIADMK has 5. The Janata Dal (United), Samajwadi Party, and Nationalist Congress Party have 4 members each.

Further political reactions are expected as speculation over possible AAP exits continues.Raghav Chadha-led exit rocks AAP; senior MPs join BJPRaghav Chadha, along with six other Rajya Sabha members, including Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, on Friday announced that they were breaking away from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).The announcement came days after Chadha was removed as the party’s leader in the Rajya Sabha by AAP, triggering a sharp exchange of words between him and other party leaders.
