A young life was tragically cut short on the Madhubani–Rampatti NH when a reckless bus collided with 25-year-old Om Prakash Sahu’s motorcycle near Ranti village. The impact was devastating and he was pronounced dead at the scene. While the bus driver vanished into the night, locals managed to detain the bus helper, sparking outrage among the community.
Madhubani: A 25-year-old motorcyclist died after a speeding bus ran over his bike on the Madhubani–Rampatti NH near Panchwati Chowk at Ranti village in Madhubani on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Om Prakash Sahu, a resident of Kamla Bari (Lohat) under Pandaul police station.Sahu had come to Madhubani for a doctor’s consultation and was returning home when the accident occurred. Just after crossing the railway line, a high-speed bus coming from behind hit his motorcycle. He fell on the road, and the bus ran over him, killing him on the spot.According to police, the driver fled after abandoning the vehicle, while locals caught hold of the bus helper.
Enraged residents blocked the highway and staged a protest, placing the body on the road.“Since 3pm, traffic movement on the NH has been completely disrupted. Long queues of vehicles stretched from Railway crossing (13) to Ranti Chowk,” said Traffic DSP Sujit Kumar. He added that teams from Town and Rajnagar police stations were working to clear the jam and take the body for postmortem.
