Trichy: Soon after the state-level DMK conference was completed at Siruganur on Trichy-Chennai NH, heavy traffic congestion was reported on the highway. As vehicles including cars and vans used by cadres started leaving, other vehicles commuting on the highway were stuck.
Despite traffic diversions enforced by the district police, vehicles were piled up for about 3km. Several senior police officers including V Balakrishnan, IG, central zone regulated the vehicles, mostly those used by the DMK members. Traffic gradually resumed to normalcy after some time.
