Trichy: BJP state president Nainar Nagendran on Monday denied any talks with Vijay over a possible alliance and rejected allegations that the BJP had influenced the CBI to summon the actor-politician in connection with the Karur stampede case.Nainar chaired a party consultation meeting in Thanjavur ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s participation in the NDA alliance conference scheduled to be held in Trichy on March 11. Addressing reporters, he said, “Talk of an alliance between TVK and the BJP is nothing but a rumour. No discussions or negotiations have taken place.” He also dismissed speculation that Vijay had been offered the post of deputy chief minister as part of any alliance arrangement. Responding to questions on claims that the BJP was behind the CBI summoning Vijay in the Karur stampede case, Nainar said, “Vijay being summoned by the CBI has absolutely no connection with the BJP.” He added that this was not the first time Vijay had been called for questioning. “He has been summoned earlier as well. This has nothing to do with the BJP,” he said.
