‘Aaya Sher’ from Nani's 'The Paradise': How a massive slum set and 2.5-acre water village were built instead of CGI

Filmmakers behind Nani’s ‘Aaya Sher’ from ‘The Paradise’ eschewed CGI for colossal, real sets spanning 2.5 acres. A 60-foot ‘Hero House,’ a fully functional village with 100 water tankers, and a vast slum world showcase 30 days of intensive labor by hundreds, bringing the song’s epic vision to life.

The makers of Nani’s latest mass anthem, ‘Aaya Sher’ from ‘The Paradise’, the makers revealed how the set was brought to life. Director Srikanth Odela and art director Avinash Kolla bypassed CGI in favor of massive, tangible sets that span over 2.5 acres.

From a 60-foot “Hero House” to a fully functioning village flooded with 100 water tankers, every frame of the song reflects 30 days of intense labor by hundreds of workers.

A huge slum set was built for the song ‘Aya Sher’

As revealed by the makers in a press release, huge slum-style world was created for the song. In this world, the hero appears like the emperor of the slums. One of the song’s biggest highlights is the Hero House, also called the Kaman Set. The structure looks massive on screen.

The set measures 60 feet in width, 45 feet in height, and 25 feet in depth.Speaking about the details, the team initially built the structure with a 30-foot width, which they later expanded by 15 feet on both sides. Now the final width is around 60 feet. The makers also shared that over 25 workers worked for nearly 20 days to complete it and used a special aging technique so the set looked old and natural.

‘The Paradise’ team also built a large water body village, which is featured in a song and spreads over about 2.5 acres. They constructed over 60 real houses in the area, not just dummy structures. Nearly 50 workers spent 30 days building the village.

The space can hold about 500 people at once. The team also brought 100 tankers of water to build it. It took seven days to fill the area. The makers also built a 20-foot by 20-foot pond with a depth of 20 feet to store water.

Additionally, the production team created a large dump yard set. The structure measures 120 feet in length, 50 feet in width, and 30 feet in height.
