Indian Army Sappers display advanced combat engineering skills during Exercise Sarvatra Prahar at Pokhran Range

JAISALMER: In the context of the current global scenarios, the Indian Army is continuously testing and strengthening its strike and combat capabilities. In this regard Sappers of the Sudarshan Chakra Corps demonstrated advanced combat engineering capabilities during Exercise Sarvatra Prahar at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer district on wednesday showcasing the Indian Army’s operational preparedness for modern battlefield challenges. The high-intensity exercise highlighted the cutting edge of combat engineering as Army engineers carried out a series of complex battlefield tasks including composite crossing, combat bridging, obstacle breaching and controlled demolitions with remarkable precision and speed. These operations are critical for ensuring the rapid mobility of mechanised and armoured formations during combat situations.

During the drill, the sappers demonstrated their ability to create and secure crossing points across water obstacles, enabling troops, tanks and heavy military vehicles to advance swiftly in contested areas. Engineers executed bridging operations under simulated combat conditions while simultaneously conducting breaching drills to clear obstacles and minefields, ensuring safe passage for advancing forces.

Officials said the exercise focused on enhancing coordination between engineering units and combat formations, a key element in modern manoeuvre warfare where mobility and speed often determine battlefield success. The exercise also featured the use of innovative technologies to strengthen field engineering capabilities. Troops conducted advanced water reconnaissance operations to identify suitable crossing sites and employed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for reconnaissance and simulated bomblet delivery missions. Live minefield drills were also carried out to test the troops’ expertise in laying, detecting and breaching mines in real-time operational scenarios.Military officials noted that such exercises are designed to validate the operational readiness of combat engineers and test new technologies and tactics in realistic battlefield environments. The successful conduct of Exercise Sarvatra Prahar reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to continuously upgrade its combat engineering capabilities. By integrating modern technologies with traditional battlefield skills, the Army aims to maintain a decisive edge and remain fully prepared to dominate contested battlefields in future conflicts.
