Vasco: Two persons from Vasco fell victim to online frauds after downloading Android package kit (APK) files and transferring Rs 4.1 lakh to unidentified persons from their bank accounts.Vasco police said that Mahadev Tandel, resident of Mundvel, Vasco, transferred Rs 2.3 lakh from his bank account on Feb 7.“An unidentified accused person posed as a bank officer and contacted Tandel. He them induced him to download an app and sent an APK file, claiming that it would make the transaction easier. After the file was downloaded, an amount of Rs 2.3 lakh was fraudulently debited from the bank account of Tandel,” the police said.In a similar case, Lalsab Bagwan, resident of Dabolim, Vasco, was also cheated after an accused person sent him an APK file for RTO e-challan. Bagwan upon receiving the file, opened it and viewed an image within it. An amount of Rs 1.8 lakh was debited from his bank account immediately thereafter.
