Maybe for Week 1 of the 2026 season, but not otherwise.So, three days after his franchise signed a new signal caller, his wife, Brittany, posted several pictures from their offseason vacation on Instagram. Those pictures even showed Mahomes’ injured knee plastered in a black cast, signaling everyone that he’ll soon be back on the gridiron.More hopes? The last picture by the sea showed him without a cast! So maybe he will return for Week 1! And Fields would become his backup. All speculation.

It’s Mahomes’ goal after all, to return for the first game of the new season. Head coach Andy Reid told reporters in Feb. that the signal-caller was spending seven hours a day in the training facility. His recovery timeline puts him on the gridiron by mid-September. But he is known for defying the odds.
Even Chiefs owner Clark Hunt believes so.“I wouldn’t put it past him,” Hunt said via Good Morning Football. “He’s somebody in the past who has healed very quickly, and again, his work ethic, I think, gives him a huge advantage in getting back and being ready to play in 2026.”The Chiefs may not have wanted to pressure their star player, so as insurance, they traded for Fields from New York in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Fields may get ample reps during the offseason and training camp and may potentially play early on in the season, depending on Mahomes’ recovery timeline.The three-time Super Bowl champion is working hard on his recovery, but for now, quality time with his beautiful family is on his mind. Their latest vacation snapshots show they’re taking it one day at a time and truly trying to recover by spending quality time on the beach side.

There was also a white building behind the bull, it may be The Honeycomb.
