The 45th edition of Chrysalis, the annual graduation fashion show at SNDT Women’s University, unfolded in Mumbai with a compelling showcase of creativity, innovation and next-generation fashion talent.
Featuring 12 concept-driven collections, the event seamlessly blended craftsmanship with contemporary design, reflecting the evolving landscape of the Indian fashion industry.Chrysalis has long served as a launchpad for celebrated designers such as Anita Dongre, Neeta Lulla, Arpita Mehta, Masaba Gupta, Payal Khandwala and Payal Singhal, reinforcing its legacy of nurturing industry leaders. A key highlight of the evening was the felicitation of Payal Singhal as Alumna Par Excellence.
Her inspiring journey and significant contributions to the fashion industry served as a powerful source of motivation for the graduating cohort.The evening reached new heights under the direction of renowned fashion choreographer Utsav Dholakia, whose visionary runway execution delivered a high-impact fashion show experience. Known for redefining fashion choreography, Utsav transformed the runway into a visually immersive spectacle with synchronised lighting, high-energy music and dynamic stage production.
Top models brought each collection to life with confidence and elegance, elevating the creative expression of the young designers. The event was graced by principal Dr Sachin Laddha and head of department Dr Jinal Sangani, alongside notable members of the fashion and design fraternity, including Amy Billimoria, Arzan Khambatta, Felix Bendish, Lascelles Symons and Chandrakant Shah. Adding a warm and personal touch to the evening, Utsav Dholakia’s wife, Chetana Dholakia, and son, Yash Dholakia, were present to support the emerging talent.Chrysalis 2026 once again reaffirmed its position as a premier platform for emerging designers, powered by innovation, mentorship and world-class fashion presentation.
