Tata leadership visits Dhamra Port, reviews expansion plans

Bhubaneswar: Tata Group’s senior leadership on Thursday visited Dhamra Port to explore long-term logistics solutions and reviewed the port’s infrastructure and expansion plans.The visit coincided with Dhamra Port berthing its first-ever Cape Size iron ore vessel, MV Enna, carrying over 1.51 lakh tonnes of iron ore for Tata Steel, marking a major milestone for the deep-draft port.The Dhamra Port officials said the successful handling of the Cape Size vessel underlined Dhamra’s capability to manage large bulk cargo and support India’s growing steel sector.“Tata Steel executives inspected ongoing and upcoming projects at the port and discussed capacity augmentation and modernisation initiatives aligned with the steelmaker’s expansion plans,” a company statement on Friday reads.Tata Steel has a long-standing association with Dhamra Port for handling coal, flux, limestone, slag and steel. Dhamra Port is currently undertaking a major expansion programme to enhance berth capacity, deep-draft infrastructure and cargo-handling facilities to meet future demand.
