Tiger Woods’ DUI arrest has taken on a different tone as new details begin to surface around what really led to that frightening crash. The golf legend now finds himself at the center of another troubling moment. It was not just the accident itself, but the condition he was found in, got extended attention. Police described him as sluggish and impaired after his vehicle flipped on a narrow Florida road. Yet those close to him insist there is more to the story, pointing away from illegal substances and toward something familiar in his career.

Sources reveal that Tiger Woods has been on pain medication

According to sources, Tiger Woods may have been relying on prescribed opioid painkillers at the time of the crash.

“He is not one for illegal drugs. He has been on pain medication for years,” a source said (via The Sun). The claim adds context to a difficult scene where Woods, alone in his Land Rover, lost control while attempting to overtake a slower vehicle. The impact was severe enough to leave the car overturned. Woods managed to crawl out through the passenger side, but officers noted signs of impairment. He passed a breath test at the scene but refused a urine test, a decision that led to further legal trouble.

He was later charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusing to submit to a lawful test, spending eight hours in custody before his release.Another source revealed, “The guy is a terrible driver. He drives like a bat out of hell very often on a road where lawn services are parked with heavy equipment. I’ve been with him in the car going 55 or 60 mph driving past cops who don’t seem to care.”The physical toll on Woods cannot be ignored. Years of injuries have followed him through his career, including multiple back surgeries and a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Each comeback has come with a cost. His recent return to competition, including an appearance at the TGL finals after a long layoff, hinted at progress. This incident, however, interrupts that fragile momentum. The crash itself could have been far worse. Authorities said the road was narrow, and oncoming traffic might have changed everything. In that sense, Woods was fortunate to walk away unhurt.

Tiger Woods’ personal life

Off the course, Woods’ life has rarely been simple. His marriage to Elin Nordegren ended in 2010.

Since then, his relationships have drawn steady attention, from his time with Erica Herman to his current relationship with Vanessa Trump. His past also includes earlier driving incidents, including a 2017 DUI case where multiple substances were found in his system. That incident led him to seek help, admitting he needed support to manage medications. It was a rare moment of openness from an athlete who has often preferred privacy.
