Khunti Ram Navami Clash: Police Deployed in Murhu After Stone-Pelting Incident

Ranchi: A large contingent of police have been deployed in Murhu area of Khunti district where two groups clashed with each other following stone-pelting on Saturday.Khunti superintendent of police Manish Toppo said that the district police and Jharkhand Armed Police have been stationed in the area, adding that the situation is under control.Several people have been detained for questioning in connection with the incident, he said.Police said that according to locals, a few children hurled small stones at a Ram Navami procession while the members of another community were welcoming the participants on Friday evening.On Saturday morning, however, some members of one community gathered and moved towards the locality of the other community following which they clashed with each other and pelted stones.
