Daltonganj: A 50-year-old man was arrested in Palamu district on Saturday for allegedly molesting a minor Dalit girl, police said on Sunday.OC of the local police station, Deobrat Poddar, said the accused had boarded the private bus on NH-98 after selling some items at a Ram Navami fair.
The girl had boarded the bus with her aunt and maternal grandfather from another place.
Taking advantage of overcrowding on the bus, the man allegedly molested the girl, Poddar said.“The bus crew were aware about the crime. The driver stopped the bus right near our police station. After learning about the incident, police personnel segregated the accused from the crowd and detained him,” the police officer said.“On the basis of a written complaint by the girl’s aunt, the man was booked under sections 74 of the BNS and Section 8 of the Pocso Act,” Poddar said, adding that the accused was sent to judicial custody on Saturday evening.
